Chests / drops are random. The only way to make it go faster is to enlist the help of your friends. If they find a gold drop, convince them to let you ID it.

Become lucky is a good method. I was trying the Divinity Coast bonus earlier and within 15 seconds 2 Gold Ettin Pauldrons dropped for the same mesmer.

Ettins are generally good source of rares though. Easy to farm and theres always the chance that a Sup Vigour will drop.

Run around a specific route opening chests. Every 3rd chest or so on average drops a gold drop. Try running witmans folly outide droks. Every second chest is gold for me. i get good mods, keys are cheap, and it helps adding to treasure hunter title, aswell as wisdom seeker ) each run is 3 chests, soooometimes 2 chests, but its fast (about 5-8mins) and is extremely easy.

Also, if you use multiple PvE characters on a regular basis, save all the golds you find in your storage for the character that is going for the desired title.

Fow chest runs^^ may be expensive but let other people open the chest to see if its purple or gold and only open the gold ones. also about 90% of fow chests are gold anyway

Ask your alliance to save all the gold items for you so you can ID them, you could try paying them so they bite.

Tough title? I think the 'Scrolls of Wisdom' and 'Treasure Hunter' titles are an absolute joke, and encourage 55 monking and bots more than anything.

If he wants the title let him aim for it. Personally I find titles like the ones that require rank to be a joke.

There's no need for "title bashing." What one person may consider a worthwhile goal to shoot for may not be for someone else. So either give the OP some advice on how best to do it, or please keep quiet.

Back on topic:

1. Any golds I get on any character I set aside for one character to ID.

2. I spend lots of time farming chests in the high-end areas. (When a key costs 600g or more, you're in an area where opening chests also count towards the treasure hunter titles)

3. If you're working towards other titles, like cartographer or protector, be sure to carry keys with you.

4. UW, FoW, and Tombs have the highest percentage of Gold chests. Plus you'll make more gold in those areas so you can afford more keys!

I'd think you'd want to do chest runs in the first area where golds appear, as the keys are cheap and the runs would be easy. You'd get crap, but you'd get the gold unlocks.

I think it was The Herbalizer here on the GW Guru forums who advertised something like 500g for each gold item he was allowed to identify. So you handed him an unidentified gold item, he identified it, and returned the item along with 500g. That would work if you had a reputation as a trustable person...
